Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about relationship coaching and the services I offer. Don’t see your question answered here? Contact me!
What is relationship coaching?
Relationship coaching is working with a coach to focus on improving your relationships and finding the blocks keeping you stuck. Though each coach’s style is unique, I focus on the connection between your thought patterns, emotions, and actions to empower you to create a healthier mindset and more fulfilled relationships. I also always keep my coaching practical, feminist, and flexible depending on the individual person and their unique needs. Like with coaching in general, I can’t treat or diagnose mental illnesses, but I do accept clients who may have experience with trauma, mental illness, and a variety of other experiences and situations.
Who do you coach?
Right now, I focus on women/womxn clients. In some cases, I may also work with couples. However, you don’t have to be in a relationship to work with me. Relationship coaching can be great for those who are already in committed relationships, but it’s also great for those who are looking to date, become more confident and assertive in non-romantic relationships, or improve self-love and their relationship with themselves.
Do you give advice?
In coaching, rather than telling you exactly what to do, I support and guide you in finding the answers for yourself. This is because what works for some people may not work for others – after all, relationships and life aren’t one-size-fits-all. I do, however, offer feedback, unbiased observations, and a different perspective to help you see past your blindspots.
How long are the 1-on-1 sessions? What does each session look like?
Live coaching sessions are done in Zoom video or audio calls, lasting 50 minutes each. In this time, we discuss your concerns, struggles, and/or goals and focus on the thought patterns and actions that may be blocking you. Throughout coaching, you are also given worksheets, resources, and other action steps to keep you engaged in growth even between sessions. If you don’t prefer 1-on-1 calls, email coaching might be a great option for you.
What are your qualifications?
I use my BA in Sexuality Studies and Sociology to address a wide scope of interpersonal issues. I also have certification in life coaching and cognitive-behavior therapy. Aside from what I’ve learned in a classroom or course, though, I myself have first-hand experience with a range of dating, marriage, and family experiences and struggles, and I’m committed to offering a compassionate, no shame, no judgment coaching space.
Do you only use Zoom for live sessions?
When you book a session with me, you will automatically receive an email with a Zoom appointment link. However, I may be able to use other programs, such as Skype. Please notify me in an email if you prefer a different program/app. All calls are internet-based, and I’m unable to conduct sessions through phone numbers.
What is your availability?
I am based in Tokyo, Japan, which means my time zone may be very different from yours. However, even on the other side of the world, there tends to be overlap in availability in the mornings and evenings. Please let me know your preferred times, and I will do my best to accommodate.
Do you offer free consultation calls?
Because the first 1-on-1 session is available at such an accessible price (and with no requirement to sign up for additional sessions after, if you decide that coaching isn’t right for you), I no longer conduct free consultation calls. You may see free calls advertised, such as in old social media posts or on the coach platform Noomii.com, but I am unable to offer them at this time.
I want coaching for something that isn’t exactly relationship related. Can you help?
Possibly! I focus on relationship (both romantic and non-romantic) skills, dating frustrations, self-love and self-worth, assertiveness skills, communication skills, conflict resolution, and trauma healing. However, I also have experience with topics outside of this list as well. Contact me with your personal goals and areas of focus to see if we’re a good match!
